Continuing to inspire young people in Nova Scotia while honoring the province’s top business leaders, Junior Achievement Nova Scotia has welcomed the latest group of laureates into the Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame at their annual induction event produced by Colour.

Nova Scotia’s premiere business event, this year’s induction gala and fundraiser was once again held at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax. The 2011 inductees included Robert Kelly, chairman and CEO of the Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, Sharon and Richard Calder, founders and owners of Charm Diamond Centres, and the late Rose Schwartz, co-founder and owner of Schwartz Clothing. A sold-out crowd of more than 1000 people honored the laureates and raised over $200,000 for Junior Achievement to support students with educational programs that focus on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness.

“The Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame includes some remarkable Nova Scotian business leaders, including men and women who have left a lasting legacy on our province,” said Lynn Coveyduck, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia. “This year’s group of inductees are no exception. They have each achieved tremendous success and are an inspiration not just to the business community but all Nova Scotians.”

Colour has been involved with the overall planning and execution of the Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the past 15 years with this year’s event production once again led by Colour’s Vern Aker. In addition to making sure the event went off without a hitch, Colour aided with the production of materials including videos that educated the audience on the successes of the laureates from those who knew them best.

This year, Colour also integrated the use of social media and mobile technology into the event to help bring Junior Achievement into the digital conversations that happen every day. This included the encouragement of “live tweeting” the event using the specialized hashtag #jadinner, as well as encouraging the use of mobile technology with a QR code. The event hashtag achieved trending topic status in Halifax on Twitter as guests and supporters continuously tweeted about the event throughout the evening
