Among the Best

For the second consecutive year, Blue Ocean Contact Centers won the silver medal as Best Outsourcer of the Year: Major Center Category by ContactCenterWorld.com.
We are honored this selection is made by a vote by fellow contact center professionals representing both outsourcers and in-house operations. We greatly appreciate this recognition from our peers.
The quality of Blue Ocean’s operations, the complexity of our client needs, and their loyalty were important factors in this selection. Of equal importance is the quality and commitment of our people. To all, our warm thanks.

Growing and Moving

Andrew O’Brien’s first year as Chief Operating Officer has featured welcomed growth at Blue Ocean. Despite a challenging economic environment, most clients, new and existing, have placed increasing confidence in our team. Revenues are up and, of course, that leads to the many challenges of growth.

We just completed a major relocation of client projects between our two Halifax contact centers. In two seamless but frantic weeks, we reconfigured 450 workstations, reinstalled our interactive white board technology lab, and relocated 250 agents. Not a beat was missed and business continued as usual. “That’s just how we roll,” said Cathy Biddulph, Blue Ocean’s Director of Human Resources.

Colour’s New Palette

Meanwhile, things are hopping at Colour, our marketing, public affairs, advertising, and social media partner. Another year of growth has been punctuated by new work for AOL Canada including the Canadian launch of Huffington Post. Colour is also attracting new social media work from Nestle Canada, one of the world’s leading nutrition, health and wellness companies. Securing these Toronto-based companies as clients highlights Colour’s success in new territory and cutting-edge work.

The October launch of a new website showcases Colour’s work as well as the depth and breadth of the Colour team in Atlantic Canada and Upper Canada. Visit colour.ca to see the exciting new look and feel of Colour’s online presence.

Community Time

At CCL Group companies, there is always time to give back.
Kudos to Colour for organizing another record-breaking Junior Achievement Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame event. Colour has a key partner in the planning and execution of this event for the past 15 years. Since its inception in 1993, this annual event has raised $1.75 million for Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia.
The Masquerade Ball, presented by Colour in support of Laing House, is a social and fund raising highlight in Halifax each October. This year’s event was once again a huge success. The Laing House Masquerade Ball exceeded its fundraising goal and raised more than $165,000 net to help support youth living with mental illness. Over the past four years, the Masquerade Ball raised more than $800,000 for Laing House – the first and only organization peer support organization for youth with mental illness in Canada.
November features CCL Group’s United Way Campaign. Led this year by Jayne Corey and Jacqui Wells of Blue Ocean Contact Centers and Ross Simmonds of Colour, the campaign is set to surpass last year’s mark of $63,000.
Looking ahead, we will soon be celebrating the impact of CCL Group’s $50,000 donation to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. Our contribution supported the construction of transition housing which will provide a brand new model of mental health care. The Grand Opening of the first home is scheduled take place in late November.
