Chris Lydon - Colour

Chris Lydon

Associate

Colour

Chris Lydon started at Colour on a lovely summer’s day in August 2007, and it hasn’t been the same since. He spent the eight preceding years in the Premier’s Office in Nova Scotia, where there was always something new to communicate to Nova Scotians. This experience, combined with his charming wit, made Chris a shoe-in for an Associate position at Colour.

As are many Colour positions, Chris’ is a bit of a hybrid. The Associate spends time jointly between various government relations and public affairs clients, as well as managing some advertising business. Telecommunications, natural resources, healthcare, government, energy, gaming – Chris has his hands in all the cookie jars. And he likes it that way. “It’s fantastic to work on five or six different things for five or six different clients every day – there’s never a dull moment and always a new challenge.” What else does he like about the job? It’s a business where folks wear a lot of black and thankfully, black is very slimming.

Chris says that his experience at Colour quickly taught him that there are in fact more than 24 hours in a day. Luckily, it also taught him that there’s never a bad time to laugh. Humour never goes out of style – which is a good thing, because Chris has loads of it!

A believer in comic relief, Chris sums up what he likes most about Colour: “Despite the stress, the hours, and the work, all we do all day is laugh. There’s a camaraderie here, a mutual understanding – it’s a vibrant and creative workplace where laughter reigns supreme. You can’t really hope for much more.” Although Chris’ job revolves around communicating important information, when he’s out of the office, all bets are off. “I’m a walking encyclopedia of largely useless information – from 80’s TV actors to the lyrics of WWII mash ballads to obscure Star Trek references.”  Trivial Pursuit anyone?
